The measurement was conducted at different speeds (1-4-8-12 km/h) and different inclines (maximum and average at 4 km/h), with a constant load of a runner weighing80 kgwho moved with an upright torso, without leaning on the side handrails and facilitating walking/running. The data measured showed that walking at maximum incline reduces energy consumption by more than 50% and at average incline by 30%.
In general, it can be noted that the energy consumption of the treadmill is lower than that of other commonly used appliances (e.g., microwave oven, hair dryer).
